Gift packaging should start with the item, the giving occasion and the way the recipient will open it. Choose the presentation around those needs before selecting a surface or decorative detail.
Define the handover
Is the gift handed over in person, displayed at an event or sent to the recipient? Describe that moment in the brief. A presentation box and the outer pack used for delivery perform different jobs; the gift box alone should not be treated as a shipping specification.

Work outward from the item
Record the item dimensions, its orientation and the space needed to remove it. Then decide whether a message, wrapping or accompanying item belongs in the presentation. Avoid adding components without deciding what each contributes.

Match the visual tone
Use an occasion and recipient brief rather than assumptions based on the price of the gift. Compare color, artwork and opening style together. A more expensive material is not automatically a better match.

Approve a complete example
Review the gift and all proposed components as one assembled sample. Confirm fit, opening, artwork and the intended handling requirements before fixing the packaging specification.
